The Store – Recycled, Restored, Repurposed

The purpose of “The Store” is to prevent waste, to serve the public, and to conduct a successful business that can help contribute to the Horry County Council on Aging Home-Delivered Meals Program for homebound senior citizens. Additionally, the Recycle, Restore, and Repurpose philosophy of “The Store” is to maximize the Horry County Solid Waste Authority landfill. By fostering waste reproduction practices, conserving resources, saving energy, generating revenue from material recovery, and diverting materials from the waste stream.

The materials and items collected at “The Store” are transformed from the County’s recycling convenience centers, cleaned up, and priced for sale by staff and volunteers. Proceeds from the sale of recycled items go toward expanding the HCCOA meal program.
